This Client Alert summarizes the significant changes made to the federal estate and gift tax laws under the recent tax compromise legislation.  These changes are slated to expire in two years, creating a great deal of uncertainty, and their full impact may not be known for some time.  Peter Porcino and Bob Giordanella have written this Client Alert to explain the changes and encourage clients to review their estate planning documents both to take advantage of the changes and to ensure that the new tax law has not adversely affected their present plan.
