By Carl Soller
Jun. 29, 2007
Customs has advised that the President has signed a Proclamation revoking GSP eligibility for gold jewelry from India and Thailand imported under 7113.19.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (“HTSUS”). This provision covers: Other articles of jewelry and parts thereof, of precious metal (other than silver), such as earrings and rings. It does not include rope, curb, cable, chain and similar articles produced in continuous lengths, whether or not cut to specific lengths, or necklaces and neck chains of gold.
The effective date of the revocation is apparently Sunday July 1st, although this has not yet been confirmed.
