The editorial comment was very positive:

“Cowan Liebowitz & Latman is extremely well qualified in all aspects of intellectual property and has the right people and resources in place to get the job done.” “Its legal experts are vastly experienced and demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, teamwork and attention to detail; they handle portfolios with exceptional care and provide clear and effective directions when dealing with the most complex trademark matters.” “The firm’s track record is very impressive, and the fees it charges are reasonable and fair.” Many of the lawyers here earn vociferous praise from the market: chair Jonathan King and litigator Eric Shimanoff, for example, are “first-rate attorneys who demonstrate mastery of their subject”. Recently, these “zealous advocates” litigated against Crocs on behalf of Car-Freshener. Meanwhile, deft all-round strategist and resolver of difficult disputes Joel Schmidt is “very hands on, responsive, pragmatic and cost effective” and unanimously considered a “delight to deal with”. “Jeffrey Epstein and Lawrence Greene are outstanding lawyers with cutting-edge experience who consistently perform at the highest level.” Epstein is “one of the best for prosecution, with many years of experience”, while Greene is touted as a mastermind at oppositions. In his court litigation and TTAB practice, Kieran Doyle “takes into account all the tiny details to deliver insightful strategic advice and excellent results”. Reflecting on their experience with trademark and copyright ace Deborah Squiers, one source comments: “She meets our needs at every step of our journey and has provided vital support as we have dramatically increased our revenue. She is highly responsive and thorough, but always works within our budget.” “One of the best lawyers at one of the best IP boutiques,” Meichelle MacGregor is a first-rate litigator and counsellor who recently won a Client Choice award for trademark practice in New York. Co-head of the trademark section with Squiers, Lynn Fruchter “provides helpful advice in the most efficient and cost-effective manner and can be highly recommended to anyone looking for really experienced trademark counsel”. With 15 individuals in the WTR 1000 New York chapter, the reservoir of talent runs deep: Mary Kevlin is of the brightest and best in the country on oppositions; William Borchard is at the vanguard of transactional IP practice; Richard Mandel is a crack litigator who successfully represented the opposers in a recent major trademark dispute between cigarette paper companies; and occupying counsel roles, Mary Donovan, Christopher Jensen and Maryann Licciardi bring impressive experience to bear in portfolio management, litigation and TTAB proceedings respectively.
