CLL filed the most US trademark oppositions in 2011
01/10/2012
We filed over 170 trademark oppositions in 2011 before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
No other law firm filed anywhere near as many oppositions according to information compiled by Towergate Software. Some of the clients for whom we acted were Major League Baseball Properties and its teams, such as the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, J. Crew, DKNY, Columbia Pictures, The American Museum of Natural History, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., C. V. Starr & Co., Varsity Brands, Fusion Brands and The Patina Group, LLC.
TTAB trademark oppositions are like streamlined law suits—with discovery, depositions, trial testimony, briefs and oral argument—but the evidence is submitted on a paper (or electronic) record.

We also were in the top copyright tier nationally, and in the top trademark tier for prosecution and for contentious firms in the Northeast, although we were not the winners in those categories. Bob Clarida attended MIP’s third annual North America Awards Dinner at the Four Seasons Georgetown in Washington DC on April 15th, and he accepted the copyright award on behalf of CLL.
