China Safeguard Quotas-New Categories

The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) has announced its request for consultations with the Government of China regarding import limits for cotton knit shirts and blouses (category 338/339), cotton trousers (category 347/348, and cotton and man-made fiber underwear (category 352/652). This triggers the immediate imposition of quota limits on merchandise exported from China between May 23, 2005 and December 31, 2005. Articles exported from China prior to May 23, 2005 are not subject to the new limits.

Category 347/348:    4,340,638 dozen
